A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Teller was born Raymond Joseph Teller s an American magician, illusionist, writer, actor, painter, and film director. Ray is half of the comedy magic duo Penn & Teller, which features him alongside Penn Jillette. During their performances, Teller often does not talk. Additionally, he is (as is Jillette) an H.L. Mencken Fellow at the Cato Institute in Washington, D.C.

Teller Big Bang Theory
During the 11th season finale of CBS’s The Big Bang Theory, Teller is featured as Amy’s Father. However, throughout the show, he is prevented from speaking by his wife, played by Kathy Bates. Once Penny shuts her down, however, Teller tells her (albeit in a whisper) “Thank you.” In the first and eighth episodes of season 12, he participates in dialogues normally.
