Leakes’ wife Nene, revealed in June 2018, that Gregg had stage 3 colon cancer. Later in MAy 2019, she announced that he was cancer-free. However, the good news did not last long as many would have hoped since, in June 2021, Nene revealed that cancer had returned.
Speaking on his cancer diagnosis on May 8, 2020, Leakes wrote on Instagram; “2 years ago today I was told I had cancer. I remember being sad inside but I knew I had to be strong on the outside as much as I could.
“It was very tuff finding out. The next 2 questions always are: how bad & how long ?” He went ahead to thank God for always being there for him as well as his wife for taking care of him and loving him.
On August 28, 2021, Nene revealed to guests at her Linnethia Lounge in Duluth that her husband was transitioning to the other side. “You don’t know what we’re dealing with right now,” Nene said to the audience.
“We walked in this lounge because we had to walk in this lounge because this is our business. So, when people approach and say, ‘You’re rude because you don’t want to say happy birthday,’ my husband is at home dying. I don’t want to say, ‘Happy birthday.’”
